2002 turbo build in Melbourne FL
Hello all,
I just wanted to share my build with you. I though i could get some good feedback from the more experiances Porsche guys too.
The car is a 2002 Seal Grey TT.
Mods, upgrades and maintanence:
Cleaned up engine
Drivers side, still need to weld the push on fitting for that hose.
Passengers side
I'll update this thread as i go.
Question for all of you, the 59959 CATs are spect as 300 cell CATs. A buddy of mine and i cut a 1 inch square and put it on the core. We counted EVERY cell and we got a figure of about 160 cells in that square inche. We both counted twice. It looks to have less cells than the stock CATs that are supposedly 300 cell too. Are we correct in our method here?

So, I guess the Magnaflow HF metal core CATs come standard as 200 cell. You can get 100 or 300 by a special order.
I was searching every forums for days now and one guy posted a responce from a Magnaflow engineer. Everyone including some sales guys for Magnaflow kept quoting the website at 300 cell which was wrong. This makes my count of cells make sence now. 200 cpsi it is!!
Free shipping too!

Thanks for the comments guys.
To clean the engine i used three steps. I first used engine bright to clean the major greese of the bottom. the next step i used the purple clean to get most of the dealership undercoating crap off. lots of hand scrubbing with a brush and tooth brush. The last step i did was a dish soap/water mix in a spray bottle. This makes sure you get it clean and the puple cleaner off. It can be harsh on the aluminum if left on to long. This took me about four hours on by back scrubbing.
A clean engine is SOOOOOO nice to work on!!!

What do you guys think of this clutch? I have had great experiences with ACT in the past.

ACT web site states a 30% increase in clamping force and it rated for 690ftlbs of torque.

The reason i want CATs is the smell. I don't want to come in the house or work smelling like exhaust.

You'll only smell the exhaust at a stop light or in traffic. It won't ever make you or your clothes smell. But a 200 cell won't have that much of a restriction even up to 2 bar, which those turbos will never see.

Hello Ed. A coincidence, my car is also an 02 seal gray and I got it from Melbourne Fl in march 2008 from a NASA engineer who live in a very nice area on Cibola drive. Got it ship to the canadian border. Thanks for sharing this great build up, J.P.
