Good Shop/Mechanic in Norcal...

I need to find a good, experience porsche mechanic in Northern California, preferrably East Bay. I have a Cayenne Turbo, and 996 Turbo.

Stealership wanted 6k for a brake-job, spark plugs and battery replacement. Visually, I could see that there was over 35% left on the brakes.

Anybody have a good experience up here, for a competitive price?

Wow -- $6K for those three things? Even at dealer prices, the battery and spark plugs are probably around $1200. Is the brake job really that high?

I've gotten good recommendations for Kahler's up in Dublin. The Renn Shop in Santa Clara always gets high marks too. I haven't had to try either yet -- but they're on my short list.

Jason,
There are many people know how to do it themselves. Why don't you take 1k out of the 6k to buy parts and 1k to throw a Porsche Turbo party? We will all show up and talk you thru the jobs. It is a win (you learn how to do it) win (save 4k the first time and much more after) situation.

Sounds like a fun idea Eugene. I'm always down for a party and I know how to do a spark plug change.

By the way, love your new avatar

I like Eugenes idea. I need to change my front rotors/ pads. Probably going to do it next weekend, I have done them many times and I have the tools for you to work on your car. You can see me do it, and then I can assist you. It is a an easy job once you know how, right Eugene ?

Only problem is my place is in Morgan Hill, far for folks like Eugene...But hey we can plan something and I can clear out some mess in my garage. I have a car working GTG.

Sharwekrs, is good from reviews here. But from a friends experience, he told me you guys don't use oem quality stuff for brakes :/

Hey Enrique I agree, I think a maintenance GTG is a great idea. I'm ordering rotors pads for the car as well and was planning on tackling that in the coming weekends. Might as well change out the fluids as well I'd offer up my place but my lack of tools is an issue...

Alright party at Enrique's house! but seriously this is a very good idea. Count me in for a maintenance GTG. I love working on my car and would love to share/receive some knowledge (probably more receive than share). Morgan Hill is a close drive for me
