Where the lower control arm goes in to the knuckle there is this shim plate that has grooves around the edges. Does anyone know if this piece is sold separately? If so, does anyone know a part number for it? I have the diagrams from porsche and it's not documented in the pictures. I don't know, maybe it comes pressed into the knuckle from the factory?

sounds like the insert for the control arm pin. You should not be seeing so much of it! Did it come out with the arm?

 

They do come out with the ball joint sometimes. You can reinstall them. I might be able to locate one.

 

Ive only seen them come out when someone separates the joint with a hammer, not good IMO.
