Which Short Shift Option?

I'm looking on Sun Coast's website for short shifter option because I'm tired of rowing this boat.

I see a 997 Shift console upgrade and a factory short shift kit. I also know that B&M makes a short shift kit for this car. Probably there are others.

Which one is best? Price is not a consideration. I just want crisp short throws with no binding up in the gates.

Jim

OEM 997 SSK is the way to go.

B&M Shift Kit

My $ .02,

I had one installed, then un-installed 1500 miles later....
I didn't like it. Too notchey and too much force necessary to move from 2-3 or 4-5.

I have heard it may have been my install or cable adjustment, but I didn't like the B&M.

B&M=junk. I had 2 break on me. I've had 2 EVO SSK kits in 2 P-cars and love them. EVO or 997 SSK both great choices.

I've had both the b&m and the 997 SSK. The B&M has a shorter throw and about 1.5x more notch then the 997 ssk. 997 has some notchiness too but not like B&m.
Also B&m was a pain to get the car into reverse.. Lotta muscle.

Ok, I'm convinced. Just dropped the hammer on the 997SSK from Suncoast. Now for the 1 week shipping wait.

I think the 997 SSK is manufactured by B&M for Porsche. I'm not sure if it's the same one. I just bough the 997 GT3 shifter (which is shorter than the 997 stock, but slightly longer than the SSK)... Will update next week on how it goes afte the install this weekend.

I have had the b&m for 3 years, it is ok and better than stock imo but I often miss the 2nd to 3rd and end up in 5th. I have heard the 997 ssk is the way to go. Might try it out soon.

I'm not trying to be an ***, but your post lack critical details. What was "it"? B&M shifter? 997 SSK? Other? Could you elaborate on what you paid $50 for? Thanks.

The 997SSK took away all the doubt of missing the 2 - 3 shift for me. The 3 - 4 gear positions are its natural unsprung resting point and the throws just glide into place. FWIW

Ur not being an ***. It was a no name brand that is a replica of another brand. I'm not sure which one.

I just typed 996 shifter and it's $49 plus shipping

I can understand this is not for the weekend "race car driver". But for me around town it's great.
