Heated seats, question...

I heard a rumor about heated seats.

I have no idea as to the validity of this claim.

Is it true that all the 996s are prewired for heated seats and even have the heater elements in the seats?

If this were true, it seems that getting the seats to function would be relatively simple.

It this true?

I dont know about 996's, but i do know that a lot of car companies do this, for example, my sons '02 Land Rover SE is prewired for heated seats. So i would not be suprised if this is true. When ever i have a question about a Porsche, i usually call Park Place Porsche or Champion Porsche, these two dealers never fail to give me the real answere. Although i did not answere your question directly, I hope this helps.

Not prewired and the heating elements are not in the foam unless the car is built with the option, otherwise you get plain foam with no elements. Jeff

In the first year production of the 996, numerous hackers found the coils WERE in the bottom cushions, and with a few hours fishing around with a good wiring harness, were able to hook up the bottom seat heaters. You'd have to add the seatback cushion with heated wiring to get it 100%, but no one has come back to say whether or not Porsche got news of this and then stopped the practice.

Hey AutoNut. I think you've proved your point. It is time to let it go.

I hear that if you push a button in the glove box of my 996tt, my seats will turn into GT3 seats.

There is no need to create or bring up 10 threads about it. Quite frankly, he is a contributing member to this forum. While I may not always agree with his opinions, he has offered some useful information in a few threads I have started. You are just wasting bandwidth. I would think a 31 year old man would have something better to do with his time, then have some kind of infatuation with exposing someone who pretended to act older, whom you have never met.
And pretending to own a car that he doesn't. But... I shall not post anymore references to that or anything else about him. I am deeply sorry for any pain I have caused, and I give you my word it will happen no more.

The car was given to me as a gift.

JarodL... not only is he 31, but he was just married two months ago. You would think that he should spend some time with his new wife, instead of wasting it badgering and stalking me.

Chodate, your father LEASED it, how can he give it away?

And, BTW I offered not to post about you or give you a hard time anymore. If you drop it I will.

Fine... but at the very least, you could have given me the decency of telling everyone about my age myself. I was going to do it anyways on my birthday next month.
