Okay here we go...
Myself along with 5 other Porsches left Naples on Sunday to head home. We were planning on going easy because we knew the cops were out in FORCE. We head under an underpass in Collier County and coming down the ramp in an unmark car. He pulls up behind me and puts his lights on. I look in the mirror and he directs me to pull over. I thought he was kidding. He wasn't. He comes to my car and requests my info. I still can't believe it and kinda smile. "What did I do? He said, " Speeding and reckless driving". "Oh no! Not me." He said the plane has been watching me for a mile. 85 in a 70 and that I tailgated. Anyone that has driven with me can agree that I almost never tailgate, especially with a Porsche in front of me.

I have proof of my distance and will post my pics tomorrow. He continues to look at my NY lic. and NJ plates. I explain that I just moved here and he continues to walk around my car. He comments on my windshield decal and states with all these misdemeanors I could go to jail. I start to freak out. He walks away and 20 mins later I get warnings for the plates, license and decal. Then the Ticket! Xico, Hersh and the crew were up 3 miles waiting for me. They tell me not to worry, they will try to help.
So that's the story and I am innocent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW - I HAD a clean record before I moved here

Michele,
Don't worry because this matter is easily dealt with. Had the same thing happen to me when I moved to DC. Got stopped by a Maryland tropper because I looked like I was, maybe, intending, to accelerate at a high rate of speed. I wasn't even trying to but got threatened by the trooper for having Texas plates and a Texas driving license. It all happened infront of a group of people who were leaving a restaurent. One of which happened to be a lawyer who came over and gave me his card and said that if I did get the tickets, that he would be willing to help me fight it in court. The trooper suddenly changed his mind and let me go with a warning!
Funny thing was that I was driving home to catch COPS!
I'm sure Xico and the guys know who to talk to to see about resolving this.

NOT RECKLESS DRIVING !!!
He had it out for you no doubt... You can beat that based on my conversations with other law enforcement.

6 points? Tailgating and reckless driving??? Sounds like this ticket was written in MD, not FL! I do have a lot of respect for the Police; there are always a few that tarnish their reputation. I truly hope you get out of it...
My latest story, doesn't even compare:
Hope you get out of that one. Two weekends ago I took my wife's Range Rover to a McDonald's on Rockville Pike to pick up breakfast for the kids (a treat...). As I slow down to take a left turn into the McDonalds a local police car pulls across three lanes of traffic and follows me into the parking lot! I proceed through the drive through, and he pulls around and waits for me at the end of the parking lot. I pull out onto the service road and the lights go on. What the... ? He tells me the tags are expired. I am dumbfounded. I ask "when did they expire?" Get this- in March. I am 2 days into April! I told him we must have missed the notice and will complete the update when I get home online. He cuts me a $55 dollar ticket. Unreal.
A month ago I'm driving home from work on I66 East in my 996 in the fast lane at about 60 mph (traffic). A Camaro starts to tailgate me. He falls back, then races up on my bumper, rides it for a while, then falls back again. He then cuts over a lane and tries to pass me, but gets cut off when the car in front of him slows down. He then proceeds to continue antagonizing me, and I ignore him.
Suddenly a flash of silver races past on my right. An E-class Benz tries to cut in front of me and nearly takes me and an SUV out. The Camaro again races up on my bumper, then a few moments later he hits the lights- an undercover cop! I pull onto the shoulder and he nabs the Benz. WTF? Trying to egg me into a race? Entrapment??? Just glad he got the Benz, but COME ON.
