CEL, P420 or P240

I got a CEL and must have cleared it by accident. Sure didn't mean to. It was either P420 or P240. Something emmisions related, low value I think. Can anyone help?

Thanks Hammer, it was the 420. The 240 would have spooked me. I owe you one.

yea, your cat is most likely going out or it could be your 02 sensor. If you let it sit to long your 02 will go out. I throw this code in one of my cars weekly and just keep resetting it

No, I keep throwing them and clearing them. How do I know if it's the sensor or the cat?

What's up with P0800 ? Did you find anything out on that and which Porsche code does the generic, my guess P0800 relate too?

You'd have to take it apart, I've never taken a cat apart so i don't know. Hence why I've been resetting them for the past few months, but now i'm up to resetting it every 2-3 days

Too cheap to go get it fixed though.

Does your exhaust make a little rattle wheezing noise on occasion at low RPM's. It could be described as a pebble floating around sound in your exhaust

you cannot disassemble a cat, short of using a cutting torch

IF YOU CAN GET THE O2 SENSORS SWAPPED FROM SIDE TO SIDE IT WOULD HELP IN DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM.IF THE FAULT FOLLOWS THE SENSOR IT IS A BAD SENSOR,IF NOT IT COULD BE A BAD CAT OR A WIRING PROBLEM.
