Seems to be a knockoff of the durametric cable. I assume the premise is the same with HDMI cables and such. Same technology and difference is only the price (ie Monster cable vs any other gold plated HDMI cable you can get from monoprice) The software download link is actually durametric's software. I'll give it a shot since I could use a backup cable anyway. For 38 bucks shipped it's worth a shot.

Yes it a durametric rip off and taking money from durametric. It is the older cable that only works with old versions of durametric. Scum bags like this is why durametric had to create a new cable with protection.
Save yourself some headache and get an authentic durametric and support the developer.

I agree .... thats why we dont have jobs in US.... I often get calls, and sorry to change the subject, as to why my exhaust is so expensive... I tell them because it is not made by a 14 year old child for 6 cents a day...

Well put. It amazes me how you can tool up, make and ship something from china cheaper then you can get it here. You still need to truck it from port of entry to you too!

Im wondering, did durametric develop the cable or manufacture it in house? I was under the assumption that the actual cable is outsourced from a generic manufacturer like other diagnostic/av cables are and they developed the proprietary software.

There is a thread on the 986forum about someone who bought one and found that the speed of data transfer is much slower and was advised by his mechanic to only read codes, not reset cels, etc. because of possible data corruption caused by the slow transfer.

There is a lot of software out there that can do similar things that a Durametric can. There is also a bunch of different cables that can work with the various software. If just depends on the chip in the cable as to what protocols it reads and supports and if it communicates both ways. With that said, in this case it kindoff sucks that these guys are selling something and even claiming in the comments to "please use our software" when in fact they are providing a pirated copy of the Durametric.
One thing on the Durametric thou, I hate how it's locked in to 3 vins. I'm handy and like to help my friends with cars and I don't think I have any vins left bu now ....so I think I'm stuck with my car for good.
