Hiding Valentine 1

I'm thinking of getting a V1, with the front panel detached.

I live in Montreal where these things are not entirely legit and coppers have SPECTRE II detector detectors.

I'm thinking of having it ON, then when it gets a serious bite, going dark to not let the coppers hunt me down. SPECTRE is a pain to operate for them, apparently.

I'm just wondering IF and HOW you guys camouflaged the V1 while still getting a good range... my current guess is passenger visor wired to below steering wheel (sounds like a pain to wire).

any advice from guys also in fascist jurisdictions where detectors are illegal as to silent operations? how they camo'ed their detector? anybody try the BeastPower rear-view mirror with V1 indicator?

Also, in a recent shootout the COBRA 9870 did better at staying hidden from SPECTRE... should I go with that at the expense of better radar detection of V1?

cheers

marco

I believe the V1 has a feature that when it's trying to be detected it automatically shuts off.

Marco--

As far as I know, Beastpower doesn't make those mirrors for 996's anymore. Do you have a source for the mirrors? I'd love to get my hands on one...

the mirror was only for the arrow display. It doesn't hide the radar detector unit which must be placed so the the front and rear sensors have an unobstructed view...fyi

You should consider a K40 for a totally stealth install. The only way the cops know it's there is if they tear apart your car.

Only problem: it will cost at least US$1500 installed.

Arm,
V1 is high on the windshield to the right of the rear view mirror.

pmcg,
Uniden BCT-7 if my memory serves me correctly.

I cant remember where i got the V1 mirror, but the Valentine unit is actually placed inside the rear deck lid. Just behind and above the "turbo" under the carpet. It seemed wierd to put it back there, but it does fine. I have a valentine in my other car way up front where the garage door openers would be and a clear view of the road, and the V1 in the porsche picks up radar just as good. Just kind of a funny place to put it.

josh.
