Unable to pass emissions, cant register car!
Hi guys,
I finally got my car put back together (after 13 months!) but now have another issue. I cant drive my car on the streets because the plates expired in November and in order to register I need to pass emissions. The problem I am having is with a secondary air intake code I keep getting. I had Porsche, Midwest eurosport, and another shop try to fix the issue. They are all blaming the tune. The car had a leak down test, boost leak test, and also vacume test. Every connection is showing the correct voltage also. The pump runs. However, the codes keep coming back. Am I missing something? Is there anyway to turn off the secondary air system or bypass it so that I can pass the emissions?
Thanks.
Vince.

you need to call Tony @ EPL asap and speak with him directly, if its something that can be altered in the tune he is the only person that can do it for you (assuming you still have his tune) and you are wasting time posting here

I just wanted to know if someone else may have had a problem like me or could point me to some direction. I talked to Tony a while back but was told that there was no way to shut that off. I dont know what else to do. Im not trying to waste time bro but it sucks to have spent all this money and time and now I cant drive the car.

I completely understand, i was where you were a few months back. Registration was on its way to be up and I could not pass due to a light and recurring code, it ended up being a vacuum leak which they had to smoke out for hours just to find but it was enough to trip up the ecu. After fixing it and driving some I was able to pass inspection in NYS in which 2 of 3 systems have to be READY (it said on my handheld that cats were not ready although I do have race cats on the car)

Yes, P0491 and p0492.
I dont want to switch tuners. I am happy with my tune. This sucks, I wish you could just pay a fine or something and call it a day.

check your diverter valves and make sure they hold vacuum. if they are torn, they will not hold enough vacuum to hold the check valve open to run the secondary air injection system. check for all vacuum leaks! even if the pump is coming on does not mean the whole system is working correctly. also, there is a vacuum canister for that system that also need to be checked if it holds vacuum.

It usually means there's a small vacuum leak somewhere. Do what pinoy suggested and see. I had this code once after I had the plenum, TB, and y-pipe replaced. The code went away after I reset the CEL and reset the ECU (disconnecting the battery).

yup, that's the very first thing i check when i see that code

My car went in yesterday for 0491 and 0492 codes. Since the pump and other related items were changed last March, before I bought the car, I'm assuming its a vacuum leak. Ill keep you updated, maybe it will help

Vince,
did they do the boost leak test from the turbos? probably not...
some of our programs do not run the pump...
You have had this I believe since beginning... I recall you talking about this...
