Reviving an old thread... for those that have been running t6 I'd like to know your long term impressions. Has it accelerated the wear on your catalytic converter?

 

It's the concern of the residue from those additives plugging up the cats.
But from my understanding and research, the new synthetic diesel 5W40 oils will not,, atleast in the life time of our cars.

 

Keep in mind these diesel oils are designed for diesel trucks that have cats, so the ZDDP levels in the diesel oils have been reduced as well.

 

I've heard that sometimes it can reduce that clanking noise common to our cars. Their have been good UOA's for this oil on our cars on BITOG

 

I use Rotella T6 exclusively. No issues here. And, right now O'Reilly is doing a pretty good mail in rebate right now as well.

 

Those of you that have used this oil, and noticed the clanking go down. How significant did it quiet it down? Can someone post a vid or give a tangable idea of the difference in noise reduction. Most ppl just say its quieter, but by how much 1/2, 3/4 etc.

 

if i remember correctly i saw a $5 rebate on a 5qt jug at Walmart. Not bad since its only $21.xx before rebate.
