when in doubt.. downshift!
Yeah it's a tip you don't have to rub it in :P ... and hey, it's not a garage queen, i drive it in traffic almost every day so tip does have its advantages. I'm not a race car driver. You're just jealous.

Don't listen to anyone slagging a Tip, once you get them properly tuned, you will be embarrassing Manual cars. The tip car loves more power. Its where the advantages start, like ultra quick gear changes and 95% max boost each gear change.
Transmission is a % loss of power, the bigger you go with your HP figures the difference % loss between the 2 types of car diminishes.

Its not as good as a PDK box but hey its not a 997 either. Nearly all modern sports car seem to be doing away with a clutch and the stick change these days. Soon we will be laughing at stick change drivers saying come on Grandpa get a modern motor.

paulycw is infamous around these parts
The ECU flash is your friend and a good free flow exhaust will reduce the lag. I heard good things about EPL and the other is Kevin in Seattle.

My car is a manual transmission and when I get a Porsche loaner (usually a Boxster tiptronic) I notice I have to constantly downshift the car to be in the right gear.

I suppose being in Dubai where 100 degree F ambient is typical does not help either. I travel between Las Vegas (100+ degress) and the beach in Los Angeles (75 degrees) there is a noticeable performance difference. When it gets cold in Las Vegas (40 degrees) then the car comes really alive.
