the start with the gopro is a bit difficult, especially because theres no real display with a menu. well not a display you're used of other devices. but the included manual gives a first hint. i've found a very good description on youtube about the menu and which settings needs to be done and how to operate it. since youtube is blocked in the office i'll have to post the link later on tonight.
i have 2 gopros and i'm very happy with it. i'm using it most of the time for skydiving. a month ago i bought the motorsports kit and it's just great. the included suction cup mount is awesome for inside and outside shots. i was a bit afraid to mount it outside but even full speed runs on the german autobahn nor bumpy roads in the wet were a problem.
i usually have my netbook with me to check the recorded movies. the optional LCD bacpac could be helpful as well so you don't have to carry a notebook with you to check the vids on set.

The waterproof case works well to also reduce wind noise at high speed. I found that 720p 60fps worked best for me, but all resolutions seem to be pretty good.
Also, you can pretty much forget about trying to use it at night.
