You are correct. If you switch to wider wheels and tires you will have difficulty getting an acceptable street alignment with the stock eccentrics. The additional suspension parts (rear adjustable upper control arms (dog bones), rear adjustable toe links) are expensive and require more maintenance. However they have the added benefit of getting rid of most of the bushing play in the rear end without compromising ride quality.
