PSM / ABS failure drive to workshop...
#46
I would go straight and do a boost leak or smoke test, the car is no running above .5bar. I doubt it is the MAF since he's is not generating boost.

Alright, got my code reader tonight and will need some ideas.
* PSM/ABS error happened twice, both times when I stepped out the car while it was idling?! When the error displays, idle gets very rough and the car nearly dies before the revs jump back up again. When the error is not present, the car idles just fine (including cold start).
* I drove 200+ mi with lots of mountain roads, braking, turning, etc. and nothing happened at all;
* Just read the codes: NONE
* Tires are stock sizes; suspension is stock.
* Cleaned the MAF but obviously not the issue since there are no codes.
* I pulled off the driver's side wheel over the weekend to inspect any damage to any wiring and couldn't see anything. Also cleaned the wheel sensor; it had some metal particles sticking to it. Didn't get around to doing the passenger side yet.
So, I'm out of ideas?? Anything else I'm missing?
The only other variable I can think of is that I recently had my AWE Tuning 200 cel exhaust installed but I can't imagine that causing the PSM/ABS failure or at least not without throwing a code.

exhaust/cats or possibly a small boost leak!? what happened when you changed the maf?
#49
The only other thing I could find through research is the brake pressure switch going bad (under the brake pedal). I'll check that tonight but have my doubts that's it...

Thanks! Brake lights and brake pressure switch are on my list to check tonight. I'm a little skeptical that's the issue but it would be great if it is!!

Yeah, I cleaned the MAF and the PINs the night before I took it for a 200+ mi drive. Unfortunately, right when I got home, the error happened again combined with a very erratic idle?! Hard to believe a small boost leak could cause that but who knows? I started the car again tonight; idles perfectly fine?! Also don't think it's related to the alternator or battery. Roughly 13.9V when running; seems right.

STILL having issues? sucks. is this w the new maf? you should probably take it out and really hit it a few times. i think it'll throw errors from sitting lol maybe your tb is getting gunked up.. though rough idle does suggest a maf issue.
next check for minor leak?
next check for minor leak?

I may clean the TB and tighten everything back up and see if I still get it; of course, it only happens sporadically so it may not happen on the next drive.

i bet ya, if you go for a serious wot blast.....a few times and clean that sucker out the old fashioned way. just a thought. works for me, and thats why the tb gets gunked up too. sitting around and shi**y 91 gas.

I'll see if I can clean it tonight with some electronic parts cleaner. I imagine it's in the pipe right behind the MAF?
