better windshield wipers?

anyone recommend using better windshield wipers other than the oem ones? i like the one piece design like the ones used on the newer cars

criteria is they must conform to the curvature of the 996 windshield

Better in terms of cost or performance? I haven't noticed a performance issue with the oem wipers -- although maybe I don't get the same kind of rainfall in my area.

No problem with OEM here. If you notice chatters, replace it. I routinely wipe down the wiper insert with paper towel and some alcohol to keep it clean. They last several years if you don't leave the car outdoor and keep the wipeers clean.

I don't think you can find a wiper that will wrap around the passenger side properly - someone chime in if I'm wrong. As far as performance goes, I use the solid wipers with no metal bits or supports - just a simple smooth single arm. I don't remember what they are called, but if you put one in the back also, you won't have to worry about the dreaded gash in your paint if you let it drop back on the window - they don't swivel.

I use Valeo wipers from Tirerack. I needed a winter blade and they do the trick. It does skip a small two inch section on the passenger lower side, but other than that they make them in the right sizes and they are the new one piece design. I installed them last fall and they are still perfect. Typically where I am you have to change them yearly due to UV and all the weather.

here you go - $19.95 for the pair.

This would be tough - the wiper has to straighten out in the middle of the windshield and then tighten the curve as it moves down. That requires a flexibility that is not common. I haven't been able to find anything that will do that. Most offer as the main feature that they will stay on the windshield without lifting - and that they do well, but bending and straightening is another story.
