Tucson
Taking a road trip in the Turbo to Tucson in 2 weeks.
Can anyone advise me on a great country/ canyon drive?
Appreciate any local insights...speed traps etc.
Thanks in advance.

You're in luck! Tucson resident here....
Hard to find really good twisties here. Not like the canyons around Malibu and SoCal.
On the West side, Speedway turns into the road through Gates Pass and Sahuaro West. It is a nice roll but often congested (with cars or bikes). The north entrance from Ina is a little known gem.
Mt Lemmon road can be fun, but the motorcyclists have ruined it by crashing all the time - so lots of cops patrolling. But its easy to find and a rewarding escape from the heat.
With a little driving, there are some fun roads out Ajo Way south towards the back way to Arivaca. Grab lunch in Tubac then pop over the mountians via Patagonia and back up through Sonoita. Going the other way, Sonoita to Bisbee can be entertaining some. Lots of straights with a mix of curves to test your nerve.
The real fun is up north either around Sedona or the White Mountains on the east side. If you have time, the highway from Soccoro (I think) from I-25 east into Silver City is the best I've stretch I've ever been on. Its a Southwest Tail of the Dragon. Was all 2nd, some 3rd gear stuff in my BMW (tip).
Drop me a PM or e-mail, I'd be happy to help with details or maybe hook up some car buds for a group roll if you are interested. Where are you staying? Going to the PCA-SAR Cinco de Mayo concours by chance?
