Boost hose came off...I need help putting it back

My AP lower boost hose came off when i was doing a 1.6 bar run and I have trouble getting it to lock back in. I have the 997 GT2 RS intercoolers.

I put the seal (round rubber piece) on the end of the hose and stick inside the intercooler. I then take the metal piece to lock it in, but I am unable to get it to lock.

Any help would appreciated!

TIA

I seem to remember hearing they go on one way, maybe turn them 180 degree. Something about one ear is bigger than the other?

I had the same thing when my hose came off

What you're doing is correct

The clip will fit either way

Just re-do what you've already done, but then push the hose into the intercooler HARD!

You'll feel it once it goes in (at least that's what I told her)

It really takes a fair amount of force to get those seated . The clip will snap in when it is all the way in correct.

I normally put the clip on the female portion first and then push the pipe into the female end really hard until I hear a "click".

Thanks for the advice guys. I used some vasoline and got it to work just fine. It stayed on for many pulls so I decided to drive out to a meet and run a friends GTR. On the 10th pull or so, it popped off again and I crawled home on the freeway

I need to get this hose to stay in! Either these plastic endtanks just not capable of supporting this much boost or I need to get new boose hoses.

Please tell me these were not back to back pulls... Heatsoak is going to kill you! I haven't had plastic endtanks since I was stock. Even with my old ones (can't think of the cheap brand that use to be big on here) they had metal end tanks and I never had a hose pop. I had AP Hoses as well.

Not back to back...few minutes of 60 mph driving in between. I still want to run your brother

I have the GT2 RS intercoolers. The GT2 RS comes with 1.5 bar STOCK, so i am pretty sure i need to either adjust my hoses (i didn't touch the end from turbo, which i think does to be adjusted so i can orient the hose a bit differently) or get new lower boost hoses. I will see what hoses people are using on the i/c conversion thread.

Anyone know who sells only lower boost hoses?

Thanks!

Matt and I are going to be changing his plugs soon and we will make it out to run.

And what an IC flows psi wise on stock means nothing really. Remember boost is a measurement of restriction. Your turbos at 1.6bar are flowing a LOT more air than a stock GT2RS. That is like saying the GTRS flows 1.5bar so if you put my turbos on it than the hoses should have no problem at 1.5bar. Amount of air moving is a LOT different.

Personally I'd upgrade to some beefier intercoolers before anything.

In my fourth picture (where you can see the metal part of the intercooler hose the best), you can see that the outside got dinged a little bit. Could this be the reason it is falling out?

I did not think so since the metal clip is whats holding the i/c in lower down with the two tabs (one on each side)
