Don't be critical of the numbers. You will wander in "off-topic" territory and offend someone.

How did you come to the conclusion to point #1 ?

I assume you are comparing requested to actual boost ? Did GIAC comment on this ? Could your configuration have any impact on this, upgraded wastegates (1 bar vs stock) ?

I want to really thank the guys at GIAC: Garrett, Andrew, Austin and the technician Eli have been really good to me over the years. Thank you so much!!

It is important to mention 3 points:

1. It was evident from the logs that my car has a boost leak somewhere. The car was a bit slow to boost up and final boost numbers (1.3 BAR) were a full .2 BAR less than the ECU was requesting. While I don't expect to dyno the car again, it's obvious that there is still some power on the table.

2. My car runs a stock TB and intake piping

3. My super fast spooling Tial turbos (full 1.3 BAR by 3,000 RPM) are the pretty small 2860RS models. They do have a ball bearing, water cooled center section and IMO make a great street turbo. K16 type spool and obviously a lot more power.

In all I am happy with the results! This is an honest 200 AWHP more than stock.

Dyno results coming up.

Wow talk about a tough crowd. These are actually great numbers on these tiny turbos designed for throttle response (VS big lag, freeway power GT30s or K24/18g
setups). Full boost is 1,000 RPM lower. These are not alpha 28s (commonly known as A28s). As someone mentioned, we're talking K16 type boost response + 200 AWHP. AND tq Someone do the math, how much crank HP is that?

Wheel spin is just a throttle push away and the car simply rockets. I'm very happy with the setup as well as the service I have received from GIAC over the past 6 years. Easliy pulled a Z06, M5 and CL65 (from behind no less) on some recent run-ins.

JS Bear: Yes, requested vs actual boost. No big dea. A good boost test, and it should be ckleared up. +.2 bar fo bioost of

ari,
I knew those numbers were about right since you ran 109 oct. We have a very similar setup. My tip was dyno at 510 awhp with 91 oct. I love my setup too.

Ari are your turbos the K16/GT28 hybrids Tial used to sell before the Alphas? If so those are indeed good numbers for that setup man !!

The OP's numbers sound low, but the .2 bar boost leak is probably the culprit IMHO.
this was on a mustang dyno AWD and the dynojet number was RWD. also the new tials are day and night with the old ones.

Yeah I get that - comparing dynos is inexact (to put it mildly), and some of the newer turbo options (K16 billets, A28s) probably have equal boost response but a broader powerband and better top-end.

Just thought that 530 awhp (Mustang) on GT28s, on a race-gas tune, sounded low... and the boost leak was the reason why.

I'd say 590-600rwhp on a Dynojet. He should most definetly fix his boost issue first, then log and see how the car runs. Its frustrating to tune a car with a leak, been there done that. Once the leak was fixed - whole different ball game.

yeah, I have been dealing with leaks on a weekly basis lol but seems like I am all good now..

the reason I asked the question is because I have a very similar set up to ARI's other than a few extra bolt ons and a different tune and my car has taken (with my crappy driving skills) a couple of high 5xxwhp cars.. I need to dyno my damn car

My car had a tune just like Ari's and I made 564hp and 594tq to all wheels before GIAC had back off due to a need for more fuel. I had K16 based ball bearing GT2871's and just about all the bolt-ons, race gas and a 1.4 bar tune. LOVED IT! So does the new owner.

Ari is running K16 based 2860's and still needs the turbo intake plenum from the airbox to the turbo's. <whenever you'r ready dude!> I'm also pretty confident that he would get closer to 540-550 AWHP with that leak figured out. I have seen it . The RWD cars with his kit make about 580-630 depending on if the turbo's are 60's or 71's. The Alphas on the other hand, lets just say get a fuel kit and you'll be happy.
In my experience and i'm sure many would agree, the Mustang dyno's run low or conservative #'s (especially GIAC's). There are quite a few GREAT tuners who use their own cars on their own dyno's that I have dealt with on this forum and GIAC is one of them.
my .02...
Great runs in my opinion Ari and a nice power curve too!

Sam

I know the car! TDk
Those are the K16-2860's. Same as The original EVO GT700's. Some were upgraded to the 2871 and ball bearing too. Good for 700 on race gas with ALL bolt-ons. I read you had boost leaks and issues before. Didn't want to but in. That car made I think about 485ish to all 4 on pump with no injectors when it was picked up years ago.

Thanks Sambo.

For the record, here my car ran 516 RWHP with a standard GIAC K24 tune, stock K24s and an Exhaust in 2006. I can tell you without any doubt that my car is faster by orders of magnitude now.

I do know that a properly set-up Mustang in AWD is a lot stingier than a Dynojet in RWD mode. Regardless, I do think that there has been a move to bigger and bigger turbos. While these 3076s can obviously move a LOT of air, there is seldom any discussion on how they perform in 1st - 3rd gear and the turbo lag present with such a setup.

Remember, on dyno you start at 2,000 RPM, under load and build boost in 4th gear and shoot to redline. I'm not convinced that big turbos are as fun on the street. On the freeway... totally different story.
