Unpainted CF Hood-Fad or Fab?
#16
Real Carbon fiber is UVA/UVB sensitive. It will turn yellow and degrade if left un- painted. Personally I think CF parts used in a racing applications for weight reduction make sense. On street cars, I think they are of limited value and too fragile (as in brittle). (CF front spoilers come apart just a quickly as fiberglass when struck.) Regarding CV tape or wrap, this is clearly the space tape (if you remember the 70's) of the new millenium.

I think it'll look more boy racer than up and coming (or existing) C Level executive but that's honestly your call. As far as image goes, for every 40+ year old who will make a face at it, at least 3x that many 15-25 year olds will be pumped about it.
Like one of the other posters said - do what will make you happy with your car.

Do your roof and rear deck and it will look great imo. Just the hood = a 20 year old that does not have the resources to complete a car project, but still wants some of the look.
Just one old guys opinion.

I have a CF hood and had a dude call my car a imitation GT2RS at the track a couple of weeks ago. He was standing right next to me but didn't know it was my car.
My car is a track car though so his snide remark slide off my back, especially when I blew his doors off on the track.
