Guys,
Member TMC CL65 ran a 7.83s in his '09 GT-R on a much less than 1% decline (MIR). He is improving on his older run of 8.45s with generic Cobb tune and AAM Midpipe. His mods are AAM downpipes, AAM resonated midpipe, AAM 2.75" Intakes, 1000cc Injectors and AAM custom 93 octane tune. He also got on the 100-150 list with 8.40s!
Congrats Tom!!

You indicated that the upgraded wheel offers more acceleration higher up in the rpm range - do you notice a significant reduction in power subjectively at the lower rpms like 3-4k?

Well done Mike, way to squeeze those A28s for all they are worth! And a belated congrats for taking over this awesome thread. Thanks to Scott for all the previous hard work.

Scott has built this tread from nothing to by far the best resource on the net for 60-130 data for all sports cars but especially P cars!! It is the best listing of P car quarter mile data I know of. It is a great privilege to oversee such an archive!
The new A28s will out perform the old ones straight from the hit to the limiter. They do hit about 300 rpms later than the smaller wheels but the hit is significantly harder. Here is a jpeg of a third gear PBox pull with new vs old in similar atmospheric conditions. Pay special attention to acceleration (g). Both turbos hit before 60 mph. The 60-100 times of new is 2.44s. The old turbos time was 2.65s.
Key:
Red = New A28 MPH
Blue = Old A28 MPH
Green = New A28 longitudinal acceleration (g)
Black = Old A28 long. accel g

Mike, that is outstanding what those turbos do! For comparison, my 60-100 in 3rd gear with upgraded vtgs etc... is 3.4s and it feels pretty fast. I must say that if I was considering a non-vtg turbo I'd seriously consider the ones you have b/c most of my driving is city/highway. While the a30s may have more ultimate power it's the combination of usable tq and high-end power that makes the a28s special. I don't know if anyone has put them on a 997tt and if not why not!

Which wheels do you have on your modded VTGs?
