SpeedTech 3.0 Exhaust shoots flames!

Here's a link to some footage we shot yesterday of our SpeedTech X-cellerator 3.0 "Loud" X-Flow system in action. It was cool to see a little flame shoot out at the 2-3 shift!

Why the flames? I have a business where I build hot rod motorcycles, motors and tune them. Anytime a cycle pops and shoots a flame out the exhaust it's either a lean condition on the low speed idle jetting or most usually an exhaust leak at head to head pipe junction drawing fresh air into the exhaust stream. I see a lot of race cars shoot flames under moments of decelerating due to sucking air in the exhaust. This is usually because joints are often held together with springs and allowed to flex rather than be rigidly mounted and suseptable to cracking.

So why the flames with the P-car? Looks cool, but if it were mine, I'd be thinking I have manifold leak.

Actually, I believe it's due to the fact that I popped the MAF just prior to this run. I got a little too excited on one run and hit the rev limiter hard in 2nd and the MAF blew at that instant. This particular run was filmed before we replaced the bad MAF...I'm pretty sure that's why, as I normally do not have a backfire condition like that...

The last time I blew an MAF was a coup[le of years ago and it happened the same way - by hitting the rev limiter hard...anyhow, I thought it made for some interesting footage.

I agree it looks cool!

With the bad MAF will it pop with every decel/shift event?

keep it around.

I was doing the filming and only noticed it on that one pull and one prior to it. It was only with the 3.0 system, we did not get anything out of the tailpipe on the 2.5 version earlier in the day.

With the bad MAF, it seems to only pop when letting off at WOT. If driven easily, it does not do that...
