Brockway Din Plate for Dgauge

Got an email from Brockway. They are going to release Dgauge with single din plate in December.

I assume that this will allow you to snap it in to the center console like the original unit?

Its more of a self mounting bezel then just a trim piece. It appears very sturdy. I will admit $200 seems expensive, but there always is a built in Porsche tax on any part you buy. Beside if I'm willing to pay $150 to fill it up with 100 octane every so often its not that much. Per Eric at Brockway the part is just going into production and I believe he will also make it available as a retro fit for existing D-gauge owners. (Eric is cooking up some more electronic goodies in the near future.) Vivid will most likely offer a group buy once supply become available. Quick note to those of you that intend to order this. Spray some electronic contact cleaner on the obd2 port and plug prior to installation.

How much wiring work is involved in the installation of this unit? I assume you have to tap and splice some wiring.

It just plugs into the OBD2 port - there is nothing to it unless you want to wire for some of the optional additional monitors...then it can become involved. Most people just use it for checking dual bank AFR and that's a simple plug and play parameter.

Here is a link to some info on it: http://www.speedtechexhausts.com/page20.html

So you end up with a large connector protruding out of the OBD2 port down by your left knee sort of like when you plug in the durametric cable? Anything more stealthy?

Exactly, but it's pretty stealthy. I don't even notice it, never hit or bump it - it's like it's not even there and you have to get down low to even really see it. The cable tucks up under the dash and is not visible, so it's actually a very stealty install.

Interesting. I know when I plug in the durametric the huge connector sticks out quite a bit. Thanks John.

I think it is a smaller connector then Durametric, it's pretty shallow and the cable exits at a right angle.

See here:

Great. Thanks John. That connector is pretty slim and with the cable exiting at an angle I can see how that would tuck in there nicely.
