Help with shift **** set screw

Before I even attempt to punch myself in the face by pulling off the gear shift.. I need to loosen the set screw. Problem is Loctite must have been used because it won't budge. I have ruined one Allen key already. Is there a beefier Allen key someone could recommend. Or any other tricks of the trade? Tia.

Silly question - did you have the right size allen key?
How did you ruin it?
I'd have thought it either wouldn't budge, or that you'd round the bolt out

Yes the size is correct. The Allen key started to twist as it is not strong enough to handle the torque. The set screw is pretty small. Heading up to the hardware store to see what I can find.

Hmmm, all I could suggest is try holding the allen key nearer the pivot point
You'd have much less leverage (and it probably won't budge) but it's less likely to bend the allen key

Yes! Put the top down, got ready to stand on the seats and pull.. Decided to check how tight it was an it slid off lime a greased watermelon on a lopsided picnic table. First thing that's come easy so far. Now on to the ebrake.

Swapped out my walnut center console, shift ****, and e-brake, for alcantara and carbon fiber. Pics to follow in a new thread when she's all buttoned up! look for the walnut stuff coming soon to a classified section near you! Here is a teaser pic. poor photos next ones will be better.
