GT3 Seats, Sport Seats, Roll Bars and LEGROOM!!

I thought I would share a little info here. I have found that with the stock seats, in my case sport seats, the leg room is compromised by having the Tequipment diagonally braced bar in place. I believe this should only pertain to the combination of a diagonally braced Tequipment bar and stock seats. The Tequipment bar without the diagonal brace may not be a problem but I cannot comment. I am 6'-0" tall and found that with the seats all the way back, my legs were quite cramped. Not good. Once the GT3 seats were in, the legroom was completely restored. I would estimate that if you are taller than 5'-10", sport seats and a diagonally braced Tequipment bar is not a good situation due to lack of leg room. The seat cannot be reclined and the fore aft sliding is limited. Here is a pic of the GT3 seat in the car and the old sport seat (with heating elements) out of the car. Incidentally, I would like to sell the heated sport seats for the right price if anyone is interested.

Wgen you have time, there are a few things we need to revise with yours. Let's talk.

Regarding the seats:
I got them from Suncoast Porsche down in your neck of the woods. Apparently, they were purchased for a guy in Washington State and they shipped them to him. He refused them because they had a scuff on the back. Suncoast brought their bodyshop guy in to look at them when they returned and he did a quick buff and voila, brand new again. Nonetheless, they sold them to me at a discount. $2700 delivered to my door. I also got the Porsche sub belt brackets. Hani, you need to buy these (Part No. 996 521 933 90).

Regarding the harnesses:
I followed Tim's advice (ColorChange) and went to Northstar Motorsports. What a great buying experience. Thanks Tim!!

Regarding harnesses, here is some info. Sabelt makes Sparco harnesses. Both of these are FIA certified. Not all harnesses are. Simpsons are not from what I understand. I also looked at Deist. I had fallen in love with the Sabelt years ago after seeing them in a guys 944 Turbo out at Bridgehampton Racetrack out on Long Island. The search was kind of moot.

Because for a given frame size (640x480 pixels in this case) it allows for the largest image of the subject matter since the diagonal is longer than either the width or length!!

Please don't sue for neck injuries!!!

Duane,
I talked to Northstar http://www.northstarmotorsports.com/
just now to inquire about yellow belts. Sabelt/Sparco do not make yellow belts. You can get the Sparco harnesses in black and then add their yellow pads. I actually have the red Sabelt pads but haven't installed them yet. I highly recommend them. They make them much more comfortable.

I also inquired at Stable Energies. They carry Deist harnesses. The Deists come in a varitey of colors and they have yellows in stock right now in the five point version. I chose five point instead of six. It is personal taste really. Here is the link for the yellow belts http://www.stable-energies.com/deist/deist.html.

Hope this helps!!

Hmmm....sueing for injury....interesting....I'll tell you what; if you JUST hand over your keys to that vehicle of yours, I guess, as a favor to you, I can keep this out of court.

Deal?

how much are sport seats worth? We just bought some GT3 seats also so as soon as they get here we'll have the 2 sport seats out of our GT2. Are they different than the TT seats? What's a fair asking price?

I weighed the stock sport seats and the GT3 seats.
The stock seats weigh 48 pounds.
The GT3 seats weigh 28 pounds.
So, I just saved 40 pounds of weight by replacing the fronts and the removal of the rear seats probably saved another 40 pounds. That is significant.

Ken. the sabelts are nice aren't they. I have the same setup, just in 6 point. If you need shoes, try the Diadpoa's from Northstar, they're great.
