I need some shock diameter info...

I know the 996TT has larger diameter front shocks than the GT2/3, but I can't find the dimensions. Anybody know the two shock sizes? Thanks in advance

Gt2 is a coil over and and the turbo is a strut and spring setup. Not sure of your question?

I am looking for the shock body diameters as pertains to mounting to the front upright for the gt2 and 996tt.

Is that the 996TT front shock body? Or the GT2?

The part of the GT2 shock that clamps to the front upright is smaller than the 996TT which is the reason they are not a direct fit without an adapter sleeve. And that is also why the Motons come with the adapter sleeve and use the same shocks for the gt2 and 996TT. I just don't know the diameters of the upright mounting portion of the two.

The upper mount on the GT2 is different in that it is monoball and also does not need to make geometry adjustments for the shock mounting so far aft of the rotating hubs. The GT2/3 shocks will bolt right to the stock 996TT front upper mounts, but provisions must be made to allow for the use of the upper spring bearing plate so that the rubber of the upper mount doesn't bind and rip.

I have both the gt2 and turbo uprights in my warehouse. the pss9s that I bought for my turbo fit the gt2 upright. Will they fit the car with the gt2 upright? I do not know as yet but will shortly. The stock gt2 upper mount is not a mono ball. Your info is off. If you think you know why did you ask? As I stated I have both parts and feel by eye that the turbo shock and gt2 upper mount will work. I will know for sure in a few weeks.

Here is a picture showing the GT2 suspension and illustrating the measurement I was needing. A picture always helps me. Also note the front strut mounts. They are the exact same as the GT3. Not camber adjustable though and not meant for 996TT uprights due to the geometry.

those are not the camber plates that the dealer sent me. the ones I received were rubber like the turbo ones but had the hole centered not offset like the turbo. I wonder if they cross referenced the number and the C2 ones replaced the mono ball? I returned them as I also wanted mono ball.

Yeah, sounds like they sent you c2 parts. The gt2 uppers are the same as the gt3. I will dig up and post the part numbers when i get home if you want them.

In any case the gt2 wheel carrier part# 99634115791 (cast on part 996.341.657.91) has a opening of 51.87 mm for the lower end of strut to slide into.

Sweet! Thanks man. Now I just need to find the dimensions for the 996tt upright.
