Sorry I missed the Drive (pics)
Due to an alarm clock failure, I missed the drive from Carlsen, but I was able to get up in time to head to Yosemite. Hope to make it next year.

The drive between Merced to Yosemite in the spring is absolutely beautiful , starting with the wide open FAST rolling green foothills then the climb up , then down to the the river canyon . Of course, then you get stuck behind the campers and how about the 1,000,000,000,000,000 potholes currently on the valley floor ?
Kings Canyon Rd from Fresno to Kings Canyon Nat'l Park ( the" local's " personal Yosemite and we want to keep it that way ) is similarly fun to drive.

thanks guys! I'd love to meet up with other porsche for another run to Yosemite. There's a pretty decent place to eat near yosmeite lodge, but it doesn't open untill 5:30. Surprisingly the bacon wrapped filet was great.
The potholes weren't that bad either!

It's the Mountain Room Restaurant. If you get there early right at 5:30, you get to sit at one of the 5 tables with the view 2500 feet straight up Yosemite Falls through the 30 foot tall windows . We always ask for Vince to serve us.
Try their grass fed rib eye steak , next time - yumm !

BTW, Have you ever driven Old Priest Grade? I think it's on hwy 120 into Yosemite. It's fun as hell, going up and down. Steep, though.

My buddies and I hit that road last year. It was a blast. Maybe on the way back from the Mt. Room, we'll take it again.
I'll double check with my wife over June 17 and let you guys know.
Gramicci are you interested in going, too?

I would love to go, and so would my wife. I'll have to check with her to make sure that particular day is good, though. Yosemite is her special place to escape to. How many days are you looking at staying there? It's about a four hour drive for me, so I would end up staying the night. Also, one problem is, now that I live ouside of LA as opposed to Placerville, I take 41 into the valley, not 120 or 140. If I remember correctly, 120 is the northern-most route.
I do recommend, though, don't go camping there for your anniversary in January. It was a fun trip and I wouldn't have missed it for the world, but the fact that I have a resort outside the south gate made the last night a WHOLE lot better. The rest of the time was kind of chilly.

Ok, Carolyn's looking into how easy it would be to reschedule the BBQ for a week later, because she wants to go too. We'd have to meet you guys in the valley, though, since we'd be coming in on 41.
