Very good points. If one truly wanted to know more about it, bypass the Sales dudes and go talk to the mechanics directly. Or simply drive it to another Porsche shop who could do a thorough PPI.

Volder is infamous around these parts
Yea, as Tim said, too many questions and not enough answers. Your guys help has made my decision very easy. I'll be passing on this one.

On a more positive note, I have now made a decision as to which car I will be buying. Hopefully I can finalize the deal this week and pick it up Friday or Saturday.

Thanks everyone!

What are the clear tail signs the motor has been dropped? (painted bolts showing removal marks?)
Thanks.

I guess that is one way! ;-)
I know a lot of manufactures paint mark their bolts and nuts to see if anyone has tampered with them. I haven't looked closely enough at my car to see if Porsche does the same. At this point my car has about 45K miles on it and I don't believe the motor has ever been dropped. (carfax didn't show any when I bought it.)
I know I am on my original clutch by the position at which it grabs off the floor. I thought I read somewhere that is one of the reasons the motor might get removed.

I heard your car cruising through the row, and took a quick peek at it parked. I will be starting the mods soon. What Exhaust do you have on it? I saw the headers, exhaust, mufflers and what looked like some carbon fiber tips...
Thanks,
Shawn
