What do you consider "decent"?

It's possible, but it might take digging through a few bad ones.

I imagine at the price you mention you will find some high mileage 2001 models that need to be sold quickly. I don't think you're going to come across any healthy no-stories 996TTs with desireable color combinations at that price, at least not with any regularity.

If you don't care what color your car is or which transmission it has, and aren't super mileage sensitive, I bet quite a few cars might pop up in this price range...but that obviously means you're likely to get a car which is an odd color, tiptronic equipped, lacking service records, and has higher mileage. If none of those things bother you, then game on.

If you bring your target price range up to about $40k, I think you'll find a much more suitable selection of vehicles (color, transmission, mileage all being more desireable). Good luck to you, and I hope you find the right deal for you.

I know over at Rennlist there was a guy selling a 100k tip car for like 29 or something like that. I don't know if it's still up for sale, but it was there. He had all the records if I recall correctly.

There are a couple in the for sale section here.

This one just was posted as sold, last advertised price was $34k:

Here is one that is still for sale for $37k that has been for sale for a very long time:

Good point. Always amazing to me people who will spend $35,000. But not $35,000 plus another $5,000 to get something exceptional.

Not likely an owner of a really clean 6TT is going to sell it for $35k. But the owner of a not so clean 6TT will let it go all day long for $35k.

$35k - I hope not. Looks like the market is bottoming out on these cars for a decent ride.
Good luck with the hunt-

When I was looking - approaching 2 years ago, there was a lot of beat cars on the market. With these cars, IMHO, spend a little more and do your research. While you can get into one on the cheap, fixing it to the level of a properly cared for car in the mid 40's will be less expensive in the end. When I got mine, an '03with 20k miles, I paid $54K. I heard a lot of people say I paid too much. Maybe so, but I have had no issues at all in the time I have owned the car. I will bet those folks that paid $5k-10K less have spent at least that amount in the same time.

i picked mine up for $32,000, had a lot of nice mods, 67k miles, which many would consider high mileage. Has Tiptronic transmission, Seal Gray, with graphite gray interior. it had SOME maintenance records, but it just came off an extended warranty, where the transmission mount was replaced, and that was all. the only thing i have had to do is replace the front wheel bearings, so i only have a couple hundred in repairs on this car in the past 7k miles.

I found my 2002 with lots of options with 82k miles local to me and i paid $30K cash for it. The car is in great shape for a car of its year.
