Michelins Pilot Super Sport in this size are $500 less for a set of 4 compared to tire sizes Mike mentions above. Also includes a pro rated warranty despite the off sets.

I have a friend with a 996TT and genuine 997.1TT wheels. It has adapters to convert the PCD and belive that the center of the wheels was also shaved to fit the wheels inside the fenders and prevent rubbing issues. It has 997 tire size to maintain Porsche aproved tires: 235/35-19 and 295/30-19. It also has eibach lowering springs and the wheels has a perfect fit without any sort of issues.

 

Call me a purist, but I run stock (Porsche recommended) 18" wheels/tires on my '04 996TT for the street: 225/40-18 and 295/30-18 Mich PS2's. Both of these have 25.1" diameter avoiding any mismatch between front and rear. For track usage, I still run 18": 235/40-18 and 315/30-18 Toyo R888's, both of which have 25.5" diameter. Any delta at all, especially above the hallowed 1% tolerance, will put a certain amount of strain on the drivetrain. That rolling mismatch has to be accomodated somewhere in the drivetrain when driving on hard pavement, a chance I don't care to take when driving at speed.

No! You cannot use 305/30/19 tires! Look at the tire specs. They are 26.3'' tall and ignoring the diff you will get rubbing with this size. Also, 225/35/19 is 25.2'' tall and that is way outside rev spec with 305/30/19 even if they didnt rub.

Trust me, i know 315/25/19 tire prices suck, but you cannot safely get around this long term with this setup. Get invos if you want to save. They are great tires.

 

Getting a pair of 225/40/19 for the front will be pretty close to those 305/30/19 rears.

 

Will 315 section tyres fit on the stock 11J rim... or do you need the wider GT2 rim to get them on ?

 

Has anyone ever tried a 255/35-19 front before. Do they fit and if so how do they handle???

 

315/30-18 will fit fine on the 996 wb 18x11 rears. Match them up with 235/40-18 on the front 18x8.5 for the same diameter.

 

x2 the ratio between the 225/40 and 305/30 is closer then the 235/35 315/25

at least in michelin PS2 and PSS sizing

For 19" rims, you used to have your choice of Nitto Invos or Michelin PS2. Michelin recently discontinued PS2s in 315/25/19 and they are almost impossible to find now. No word when/if Michelin will offer this size in their new super sport so it seems Nitto is the only option now. I recently got a good deal on them from Eliteswheels on E Bay.

 

I beleive falken 452 have 315/25/19 still

 

FYI Michelin is not planning to make the new PSS in the 315/25/19 either (as of today), its a very low demand tire for them.

 

Okay I switched to oem 19" 997 turbo wheels on my 996 tt in spite of the advise against it .... I ran them about 1000 miles ... They looked great ... Rode hard ... Didn't grenade my center diff ... But more importantly than all, they were Darty, and unstable at speed, due to , I guess the two drives running diff diameter wheels concurrently ... I checked and tried diff tire pressures which helped some but all in all it was a not fun or safe driving experience at speed or in the boost ....
