ben, wanna run em at a "go straight" track? Being that I don't street race anymore. I bet it would be close.

yeah, street racing carries a mandatory minimum jail sentence in CA now. i don't know about your car, but i suspect impounding a CGT will result in a guaranteed $30k+ in damage from improper towing. as well, i can only imagine how stupid insurance would be (if even attainable) for a CGT owner with a street racing conviction.

the CGT has already been tested many times as an 11.0 @ 132 mph car. so, all you have to do is beat that and you'll know you can take one. besides, that 11.0 @ 132 mph is one that is professionally and properly driven. it's likely a waste of a decent amount of $25k clutch for an owner to even try to replicate the numbers that have already been gathered several times before on someone elses clutches.

given porsche's warranty stance, you'd probably want to talk to pcar owners in a non-public way re: things like that.

why such hate for the car?? just because he wants to run him doesnt mean he doesnt respect the car. some people cant shell out 400k but no matter if its a stang or a porsche a car lover is a car lover, some people just rather have an american car. ugh statements like yours are what help german car owners look like materialistic ******

ok, why would ben want to waste his time racing an 03 cobra? obviously the cobra would want to so he could brag that he beat an expensive car. win or lose from the cgt's standpoint, there is no advantage.

i've riden in 2 modified 03 cobras, i know exactly how fast they can be made. i fully respect them for what they are. i dont even own a porsche, but asking to compare a $30k car and a $400k in a straight line IS insulting, sorry.

I dunno, guys... I'm always up for watching a good race. A race between 30k Cobra vs. a 400k CGT can be a good one... nothing wrong with that. Just because one costs 13X more, it doesn't mean that it would not be entertaining.

You can build a Civic to be faster than a CGT... it's about watching fun and entertaining matchups... not bragging rights.

I'm a car lover through and through... and in the end, it all comes down to cool people with cool attitudes. And for me, watching races comes down to entertainment value, not who is or is not worthy... or bragging rights.. etc.
