I am looking at the 19" Super Sports too. But I think the best combination is the 225/40 having a 26.1" diameter and 797 rotations with a 295/30 having a 26" diameter and 799 rotations is a perfect match.

I initially was going with a 235 and 305 -- but that set up seems way off for the TT.

What do you guys think of the 26" height? I would rather be closer to 25" - rub issues potential?

SEE CHART BELOW:

Where are you getting your data from?

I just pulled this off the Michelin website:

225/40/19 Diameter 26.1''
305/30/19 Diameter 26.3''

235/35/19 Diameter 25.5

I run the 225/40/19 and 305/30/19

This matchup is closer then the 235/35/19 315/25/19 (PSS does not make the 315/25 size)

See my note above - I am going to go with either the 295 or the 305 rear setup too (the 295 is actually closer in height and rotation). You haven't had any rubbing with the 26" height? Do the 40's up front change the driving behavior vs a 35?

26" diameter will more than likely rub on a 996TT.

Hate to revive this post - but want to see if anyone is running these (19's) with a 26" diameter on a 996TT. I need some tires - and Michelin Pilot Sport discontinued in 315/25/19???

Is anyone else running 225/40/19 in the front (26.1" diameter)? If so are you experiencing any rubbing or is it a good ride?

Thanks!

From what I've read, 26" should be OK if you're running stock height. I think it could be a problem if the car is lowered. Can anyone confirm either way?

I just put that size on my car in PSS's. I have only taken it through the neighborhood giving it some tight turns and couldn't hear or feel any rubbing. I am also lowered 1" on H&R's.

Since a little more time has passed since I last asked -- anyone find the best combination of MPSS tire sizes for 18" wheels?

They don't have an 18 wider than 285. This is exactly why I begrudgingly stepped up to 19's. There is no good combination of PSS's for 18's. At least not for this car.

that'd be too far off (13 revs/mile or 1.3%). closer match to 245/35/19 is 295/30/19.

alternatively, you could do 225/40/19 fronts and run either 295/30/19 or 305/30/19. i have no real life experience with this, however, just going off an online calculator. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php

i wonder tho, would any of those rub on a stock suspension? 305/30/19 is 1.2" taller than stock 295/30/18 so i'd be concerned that may rub but some guys seem to get lucky and don't rub

I ended up trying out the following size for MPSS tires:

285/35-18 on OEM 11" wheels on rear (25.9" dia; 804 rev/mile)
235/40-18 on OEM 8" wheels on front (25.4" dia; 819 rev/mile)

With a few thousand miles on the street and one HPDE event, I'm happy with these tires and sizes so far. I was worried about the slightly narrower rears (10mm less than OEM), but I'm not noticing any less grip on the rear and maybe even better handling (less understeer) together with the 235s in the front. I can also confirm that there are no rubbing issues with the 25.9" diameter tires with stock ride height.
