Making me reconsider ordering the PS2's at $2000 all the way around.
thats because they are old stock, i had them last summer 2002 production date... really **** tires and look too small/streched on 11.5" Rim

I think next solution is 235/35 paired with 305/30.

Fortunatly i have a Almost New set of 235/35 & 315/25 PS2's to take me thru this summer.

Amazing, called them back today and just like you said, tires are not in stock. Maybe if we talk to them tomorrow then they will be. What BS...

I just called the ebay seller. Those tires have a 2005 production date.

235/35 should NOT be paired with 305/30 in most cases. Check your brand's specs, but I see 760 revs per mi rear and 816 revs per mi front! (Pirelli specs for all) The front should be spinning at roughly the same speed or *slightly* SLOWER (as in OEM 996tt fitment). Running 225/40 fronts would be closer (798 rev per mi), but but the 235/35 315/25 combo is clearly the best @ 816 front and 824 rear...)

225/35 305/25 would be a good combo @ 822 front and 832 rear, but 2005 is pretty old...

Last week I had a blowout and needed to replace this tire. I called every discount tire within 100 miles. I eventually found a Michelin about 40 miles away.

Its a mismatched tire, but the car is on the road. Some of you other guys may have better luck, just takes hitting the phones !

In the 235/35 305/30 combo, the fronts tires are spinning 7.4% faster than the rears! (816-760)/760=.0736

Agreed, that combo has the rears almost 3/4" taller than the fronts. That can't be good. A 235/40 would be a much better match.

no idea which hole you pulled those numbers out of. If you use http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

The diffrence is 816.6 Revs Front & 793.8 Revs Rear... thats 2.79% Diffrence... Should be fine...

but yes you guys are correct about 235/40 or 225/40 seems to be a closer Combo to 305/30

I used the specs for Pirelli PZero Rosso from tirerack:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=yes&tab=Specs

The Pirelli tires are listed at 26.3" instead of the implied 26.2" based on quoted dimensions. Hence 760 revs vs 793.8.

I always use the listed specs for revs per mile as there can be significant variance in size from brand to brand and model to model.

Maybe we can find some super small 305/30s...

Thats is true, my 235/35 Toyo T1R (RIP) was a smaller Tire than the Perilli P-Zero Rosso i ran last Summer, infact the Mich PS2 i have now is even bigger than the Rosso. Never Rubbed with the T1R, now my Fender Liner has a Hole in from the P-Zero i ran last year. Wonder how big that hole is going to get with the PS2 this summer.

Thanks. I may give them a try.
I never imagined the psm would be so picky. I was way more worried about the tire size itself and the revs/mile adversely affecting the front diff thean I was a difference in traction from brand to brand.

Yes those calculators are just to get an idea. I was surprised at the differences between different brands. When it is off like the 235/305 combo, I would be more worried long term than immediate diff explosion. It is always best with this type of AWD system to get the diameters as close as possible. I always hear the 3% rule, however I've never seen that backed up by anyone from Porsche.

The stock tires are .1" off in diameter. The 235/305 combo is .7". That is a pretty big difference to me.

Where exactly is this mythical 3% rule written? Does anyone have any idea??? Its like the lochness monster, people talk about it but nobody has seen it. Are there any people here that have used the 235/35/19 and 305/30/19 combo and killed their front diff as a result?
