I have been into VW since 2003. 1.8T Era and I have never seen a Forge DV fail. However in VW/Audi world DVs get passed around so many times, so it's possible you came a used beat up set that hasn't been maintained in ages. As long as you lube it at least once every two years - there is nothing that will fail in the Forge units.

Oops. My post wasn't very clear. The forge DV's are great units. I meant the 710N's are much more reliable than the stock DV's (especially on the S4's). I ran 710N's on my old S4 and have the Forge's on the 996.
I think you can get similar performance to the forge's from the 710N's for much less money.

I've had Baileys in my Turbo for over eight years (seven of those years with +500 hp). Not a single problem. They are maintenance free and carry a lifetime warranty.
