If a stock X50 can run in the high 11s in a perfect magazine world, then I'd say you stand a pretty good shot with your tuned car.

S4Drifter is infamous around these parts
John@speedtech: those Motor trend numbers are right for the Mustang Boss 302 and the Camaro. The 2013 Mustang GT500 will have 650hp and 600ft/lbs of torque and weigh 3800lbs.

His car is RWD 580hp 4,120lbs 0-60 in 4.0
My X50 with mods 520hp, 3,400 lbs. 0-60 in ? (I have no idea)

I think it would be close in the 1/4 and the road course would come down to the driver.
....His car was measured on a dyno at 580 rear wheel HP??...Its all about your driving technic coming off the line,,you should win a drag race...

No, it's crank HP, I don't think the guy has the car yet. He meant RWD Rear Wheel Drive

More power; Don't forget the 100 octane, maybe worth investing with a more agressive map to match. I seem to remember EPL having a launch control option as well, that will negate his drag experience

Chevrolet took a stock ZL1 to VIR and recorded a 2:52.4 lap time. Just for the sake of comparison, Car and Driver's Lightning Lap at VIR has the 997 GT3 RS at 2:55.9 and the 997 Turbo S at 2:57.5.

You've answered you're own question. Take him on a road course. With a live rear axle (beside not knowing the car) you'll kill him. Driver skill and seat time on a road course can trump more HP.

Those GM professional drivers really pushed the limits of both cars. I'd say it's questionable whether Car and Driver had the level of driving talent and familiarity with any of the cars to do the same.

Chevy's factory drivers vs Car and Drivers mag drivers is a huge mismatch. The factory drivers help in the development of the vehicle driving it for months and months whereas the lightning lap guys hop in something like 30 cars in one day.

Let's send Patrick Long to VIR in a GT3 RS and see what happens. I can assure you it would be a whole lot faster than 1:55.

And not only that a tuned x50 only needs a swaybar, and maybe some coilovers to beat an RS.

Besides, if his buddy has never been on a road course before, he will likely be clueless. That should be an easy win.

in a straight line from a dig a tuned x50 should have the 12 second ZL1 covered. On tuned K24s I ran 3.6 0-60 on the street ...

Arron Link drove the ZL1 at VIR. He's one of the Chevy chassis engineers. I don't know if he spends his time driving the car for months and months during development, or whether he leaves track testing to Chevy's dedicated factory drivers.

I posted the VIR times merely to give some perspective.

I doubt he would shave a full minute off. Car and Driver's Lightning Lap in the GT3 RS was 2:55.9.
