I'm quite sure it's a known FACT that the cars built in 05 were built with left over parts not part of the assembly line, so unless Mr. Frere was in the building he wouldn't know.
Take a good care of your car and enjoy it, that's the main thing...

Thank you my friend! and you do the same.
I'm very anxious to get the car in and get some real dyno numbers to see for myself. I can only speak of what i've experienced myself with the car
in regards to performance.

IMO, a 996tt is an absolute fantastic all round bargin. The car is at least very good or great in every category there is on a benchmark, and the price is better than great. I have zero lust to own a 997tt or 991. I buy cars based on looks (to my eye), feel, and relative value. The 996tt definately delivers, and as a bonus, it's fast as hell too!

The cars built in 05 were hand built. The stock hp was 489 not 444 as has been reported before. I'm quite sure this will be true collector car in the 996 series. I bought the car to enjoy and it has been all that every second
I nearly purchased 2 different '05 Turbo "S" models just over a year ago. I had PPIs done on both and found issues so I didn't buy. I studied the S models very thoroughly before I considered making a purchase and no where did I come across info as to they're being hand made nor power being above that of the standard X-50.

I'd like to know your source of information so I can add to my knowledge on these cars.

I'd love to have one too, but I'm pretty sure they're the same build and X50=Turbo S power levels.

It also killed it's owner (pun-intended) ...Alex died in it at the Specter Challenge event two years ago. He would have survived the crash, but he was sitting on his harness. Car went off an embankement at about 120ish (locked up the brakes and slid for over 200 feet so probably slowed from 160ish or more). That car was super , super fast!

996TT = GT1 Metzger Engine.
997 GT2RS= GT1 Metzger Engine... not a 993 turbo motor, not a 997 Mk II Turbo Motor but a 996TT Turbo motor (messaged of course).

It is funny that the 993 cars have held their value so well... they were cool back in the day. And because they still have the steel body's they felt a little more solid, like when closing the doors. But the 996 Interior is miles ahead, the handling is miles ahead, the engine potential is miles ahead... just like almost every new generation of Porsche's they just get better. I used to love the 993's but I think they're starting to look dated. I expect the prices to start dropping on them. Of course there will always be the die-hard air cooled guys... but if air-cooled was better they'd still be using it.
