Exhaust without canister mufflers or a crossover?
All this talk of exhausts had me thinking. What I'm referring to would not be an exhaust in the style of Cargraphic,Europipe, etc. with the stock-like muffler nor one with an X pipe ala 911Tuning, BBI, etc. etc. Is there a reason I don't see this around? What I mean is an exhaust that goes from the catalytic converter straight backwards and out the bumper on either side. Without cats I suppose it would just go straight back from the turbo to the bumper outlet (true straight pipes). These would be very short pieces. Am I missing something here on why this isn't done? I'm guessing part of it is sound related, but I'd love to get some insight from the board about this kind of setup (not that I'd adopt it for myself).
At least one of the big turbo guys must be running this kind of setup unless it's daft for some reason I'm not aware of.

That would make for a very aggressive sound, but we offer a setup just like you described. We use our 200 cell HJS cats (just like in our other systems) with our muffler bypass pipes. This makes for a very free-flowing and light weight system. For those of you looking for maximum flow (and flame shooting capabilities), you can opt for the cat bypass pipes instead. Check out the pictures below. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

I really do not understand the question...or thread for that matter... with straight pipes the car will sound like a industrial tractor... period...

Thanks for the post Jeff that's what I was referring to. I just hadn't seen this setup before so was curious about it and its simplicity, though it would be far too loud for my own DD.

The question was already answered, but you will need no cats and the shortest possible distance to the tip. It is also important to have an aggressive tune that allows for unburned fuel to make it past the engine.
