I also upgraded compound which might have helped also... went from 315/25 and 235/40 to the 305/30 and 255/35.

Tires are a LOT taller though. Expect some problem in the front but not in the back.
What needs to be done to 255/35/19's to fit? Any chance w/o coilovers?

I just ordered my new Hankook evo's at 295-30-19 and 245-35-19. 806/798 revs/mile...Not a perfect match, but much closer than my current 305-30-19/ 235-35-19 setup. I have had a rare PSM light pop up when I'm getting on it, and I hope this new setup will be better for the front diff. Does not look like the 255-35's will work on front. Those will rub for sure. I hope the closer ratio's will be adequate for the 996 Turbo with AWD.

How are the 245/35's fitting up front?

I will have them on by this wk end..... On order, but after very carefully measuring everything, the fronts should just barely have enough room. Has anyone else tried this set-up? 295 30 19's and 245 35 19's??? Has to be better for the front diff. I know the 255 35's are perfect, but the radiator bracket that makes the hump in the front tire well is in the way. I'm not cutting or bending anything!

Please let us know how is 245/35/19 fitting up front! TKS!
BTW 225/40/19 may be better fit for 295/30/19!

How do the 225 40's feel? I thought they may be mushy, so went with the 245's. I will post as soon as I get them on. I just hope the ratios, being twice that of the stock wheels, won't hurt. Stock fronts rotate 3 times more per mile, I think. Funny. I looked everywhere on the net for any "real" data on the Porsche's limits on tire ratios for the AWD. Can't find an official article. I have heard no more than 3mm difference, 1% difference, 3% difference, No difference, ect.... I know the 996TT has to be much closer than the 997TT because of the different diffs.

What size front wheel (incl offset) do you run. I ran 245/35/19 on my previous set of 19" wheels without rubbing but I'm unsure about my current setup.

Where exactly is it written that the 996tt tire ratio has to be much closer than the 997tt? Is this another fact being repeated on the forums or is it written in some official Porsche document? I understand the diff design is different but just trying to see if this is a supported fact or not. Why did porsche decide to run different diameter tires on the 997tt? Again, is there anyone out there that has fried the 996tt diff running 997tt tire ratios? On the flip side of it, I've talked to numerous people what have run the 305/30/19 and 235/35/19 with no issues whatsoever.

Yes. I have seen a few 996TT fried front diffs on a few forums. One of the unfortunate fellows repeated what the Porsche mechanic told him. "You can not run 997 wheels on a 996". He went on and on about the differences and bottom line was "Don't do it or it will affect performance and the life of the front diff" He said it contributes to wheel hop and premature failure. My PSM light flashes when I'm going fast with my current 305 30/ 235 35 tires. I have not personally read any articles from Porsche though. I have read, probably too much about the subject. I'm just going to be safe-er with the closer ratios. I will sell you my 305 30's and 235 35's if you want them. LOL

Ajs76 is infamous around these parts
So the old paradigm seemed to be Fr 235, Rear 315

but it seems like it's almost impossible to get those. What are your plans if those tires are all discontinued or reduced to a single tire?

I want to pull the trigger on some wheels and I'm just nervous about it because of that.

Here they are. The rims are HRE 590RS and no spacers on the front. They do not rub, but it looks as close as it gets. I have been pushing it hard and have not made a rub mark on the plastic anywhere even though it almost looks like they are touching at rest. Whew, what a relief! Now my ratio's are much closer and I did not get a single flash from my PSM light anymore! Yeh!!!! The rears do look a bit small. The rim is wider than the tires on back, but feel tight. I'm happy. The fronts are soo close. Beware if you try this setup. Your off-sets will make a big difference. Not sure of my exact off-set, so sorry I can't help there.
