About to put my transmission back in, Any throw out bearing i should watch out for?

After reading pages upon pages of defective throw out bearings i am wondering if there is a build date country of origin or brand i should watch out for? Also any tips before i replace the bearing? Anything else i should consider while i am in there? I am already doing the GT2 slave, I really wanted to send my clutch and flywheel back to clutchmasters for an inspection and a rebuild but i just do not have the time.

Also.... Should i grease the shift fork, as some have "creaking" issues

ok, I was going to use a sachs as well as they are a oes supplier.

How about the Gbox 2nd gear detent? Is this worthwhile while the transmission is out?

Lube your bushings that's the pivot point when you engage your clutch, it's what's causing the squeaky door sound.
The 2nd gear pop out fix is cheap insurance and would be incredibly easy with the Trans out, I'd do it.

I know quite a bit about it as I just ordered one for my Turbo while the tranny is out. How many miles are on your car? Have you ever had any 2nd gear popout issues? Do you have any power mods, or are you planning to add any?

The part is $149, and the installation take 15 minutes with the tranny out.

In general if you've gone maybe 30k miles and never had it happen, it probably won't at stock power levels. The chance of it happening decreases over time if you've never had it too. If you add power, you increase the chances of it happening. The part is also advertised to give better shifter feel, especially if you already have a short shifter.

I have 50k miles on my Turbo, have never had the popout issue, but I'm getting the clutch replaced and adding power to the car. For under $200 total for parts and labor you can save yourself a possible issue that will be a royal pain and expensive to fix, while getting slightly better shifter feel.

On the bearing, one of the issues was going to the thinner lwfw and then a longer bearing. The ears kept snapping on them and they were Sachs pieces. I broke two in a few K miles and several others had breakages.

Still can't say what issue was: either bad batch of parts, part not strong enough or install issues. I switched mine out for the 3rd time with a different setup and have not had an issue since then....and that was 20K miles ago.
