I'm confused as well because it seems like you are talking about the turbo "inlet" pipes were changed among a host of other changes. And we are specifically talking about the outlet and downstream plumbing in this thread. Post compressor. I expect you also went to blow through at this point with different MAF and Y pipe and bad107 thinks injectors and possibly IC's too. Pretty sure this changed your tune too yeh? This is apples and oranges.

How much more plainly can it be stated?
Sean, can you please explain your increase in horsepower. I am confused, it seems you changed the injectors and possibly the intercoolers to get the 130 rwhp.

Thanks

Why don't you just keep that size on your car Ben? I know you are wanting to go MAFless so you are going to have to make some changes. What is the true point of this thread? We all got scammed in you twos eyes so please just put the stock size on. Actually you should leave a 2.5" exhaust on the car or whatever the factory is. 3" is way overrated and you got scammed if you did that to.

No one can tune for mafless on a tiptronic 996TT unless you want to get rid of PSM and possibly ABS. I ended up using Markski's flexible 2.5" intake.

I started this thread because one of my mechanics said to get rid of my vivid 3" y-pipe and go back to stock y-pipe. I didn't understand this, but he said 3" is too big when my intercoolers are only 2.2" or so. That made me ask why do I even need 2.2" if my turbo outlets are not that big, and I did not get a good answer. I am still confused on this subject, but it seems one of the reasons for thicker piping is due to the bends.

I returned your PM. Do you have a local mechanic? A lot of answers will be based upon things that have happened in the past that colors various tuners/mechanics opinions, so you may not always get a straight answer.

Are you going with the Vivid Stroker kit?

I am staying away from Vivid / Vivid-associated products. I went from having everything agency to just my diverter valves now

I have been using Steve for ~2 years

Some Vivid products are very good (I have their partial turbo kit...turbos, cans, cooling) but yes, Steve and Dan had a falling out a few years ago (Todd N was part of that as well).

No one, really has a bad thing to say about Steve Ott. He is my mechanic of choice and I have been to a few rodeos.

HI the intercooler outlet should match the Y pipe. all you are doing is delaying air charge time. can you feel that? the pipes are so short. maybe not the average person.

I know one thing for sure, The worst thing you can do for HP gains is think like an engineer. They over think everything and end up with a car with bolt-ons.

155mph is fast for a 996. It's a heavy car. I'm impressed. Nothing to do with anyone else. I'll be there. Mounting parachute tomorrow and testing next week.

Parachutes are were the problems start Eddie. I wouldn't run one at BeeVille, tons of stopping distance.
