The interesting thing is that when I received my TTx50 about 2 months ago, I got a lot of flashes from folks in the rural country roads of West Marin. I never noticed getting those flashes from other drivers when I was driving my wife's CL55. I guess the Porsche just looks faster so the other driver is trying to save me. Believe me, the CL55 can get a pretty expensive ticket too (just not as quickly, and not nearly as much fun in doing so).

Lt. Dan is infamous around these parts
Only place I don't flash other drivers to warn of the fuzz is in my own neighborhood.. The main road has a 30mph speed limit, and it's a fairly active community(lots of kids, etc.) If you can't wait the extra 20 seconds it's gonna take you to get home, well then I hop you get pulled over!

I drove through a speed trap the other day. It was well placed, and by that I mean it was an unsafe place to speed and not one designed purely for profit. After passing it, I noticed a Nissan Pathfinder going a bit quick. If the driver hadn't been on the phone with the driver's side seat belt dangling out of the closed door I might have flashed... As it was, I figured the driver was actually in need of a wake-up call and would probably be safer after the ticket. All other times, I probably would have flashed.

It's true that it looks faster. I got many more "slow down" and "you're an *******" looks and gestures after getting the Turbo going the same speeds on the same roads as my last car. For reference the last car was a 2006 STi including a big honkin' wing on the back, so it wasn't exactly a Camry. For better or worse, when people see a certain car there are just different things that go through their heads regardless of what's actually going on.

Cop cited him for the wrong reason. Had he been cited for "improper use of headlights" as opposed to "... a state law that bans drivers from flashing after-market lights".

There is still an issue as to the balance between 'self expression' (and being able to flash away) and safe operation of vehicles on the road.

But clearly, here was a judge that had been cited before!
