Aftermarket warranties 996
Hello all,
I am new to the forum but, I have been trolling around here quite a bit reading your posts, you guys are very knowledgeable. I am in the hunt for a 2003/2004 996tt but I noticed that most of them are without warranties. I want to be very, very careful with this process when spending this type of money on a vehicle without a warranty.
Is there anyone here that can shed some light on some aftermarket warranty company's that will give close to a bumper to bumper coverage? I have checked a few of them out such as CARCHEX they were fine when they gave me the quote but, it was for a non turbo then I gave them a VIN # and then they said that they will not cover these cars. Warranty Direct was $4500 for two years but they would not cover it again after the two year period ended. I called Nation Warranty and the 996tt was not in there data base and they said they would have to call me back with some numbers. Any help would be greatly appreciated from you guys about warranties thanks.

I bought mine in december with a 30 months 50,000km bumper to bumper warranty from easycare. I could have bought a 48months but prices would go up rapidly.
Mine cost 3500$ IIRC. I have read that Easycare is one of the best, but I have not had to use them yet.

Thanks Darth GF I will call them as well. I definitely want to mod the later but, one question if the car is modified will they not warranty it or if you get a warranty and modified the car will this void the the warranty? Has anyone ran into a situation like this before?

[quote=johnspeed;3514171]I just spoke with Fidelity and they will only offer a warranty if you buy from a dealer and they offer it. I was looking to purchase from a private owner. I guess now I will have to look at dealers for the warranty. Sheesh....

So far I've had 3 issues and they paid for nearly everything and I never had to even call them other than the first time to find out what shops I could use that are approved to do work for them. Once I found a shop, I gave the shop Fidelity's number and I've never talked to them again.
Alternator - Went out at about 48k miles. Have AAA so it was towed to shop for free. Total $1300? or so - Paid ~$350 which included $100 deductible plus $200 for new battery (not covered) plus tax and a few random disposal fees or something like that.
Blown head unit (with nav) - Total $1500? Paid $100.
Blown O-ring on the oil cooler system as a result of no specific problem. Required dropping the engine to replace it. Total $4,000 or so - paid $100
