Mid-Ohio DE, video
Had a fun weekend at OVR-PCA drivers ed at Mid-Ohio. Friday weather was great, when this video was taken by a fellow instructor in a Z06. I was still experimenting with lines through the carousel that avoided the bump at the first apex, and this one isn't a very good one.
Instructor passing rules are "anywhere, any side, with a point-by" and "each of you owns 1/2 the corner" They don't always make the passes easy, as you see near the end.

Come on down - it's practically in your back yard! My buddy and I are thinking about coming back for the Aug 17-19 MORPCA DE.

He shifts on the back straight, but I think that he runs the rest in third gear. He must be geared higher than my car. I'm in third for much of the track, too. But I go to 4th on the front straight and leave it there up to keyhole (turns 14 to 4), and in Thunder Valley (turns 11 to 13), up to 5th on the back straight before going back to 3rd after turn 7.
Edit: I looked it up, and a Z06 maxes out 3rd gear @120 mph, and maxes out 4th gear @158 mph. I'm seeing 150+ on the back straight, but that's getting close to the top of 5th gear.
Interesting ride Chad. See you next weekend?

I know that feeling. I was at Putman Park in April for the very first event there this year and the track was very green. I was i a car I had never driven before (Spec Miata) and it took a while for that track to get some grip. Need to back later in the year with the same car and see if I can improve on the times.
