Clunk ... Clunk

Have you guys experienced any clunking type noise in the engine when you step on the gas pedal? Somtimes when stepping on the gas pedal from a stop, the car will not respond immediately and the engine will jerk a little and create the "clunk" noise. It feels like something was dropped underneath the car.

Hussain - Stock car with OEM suspension/springs. It is a 2002, so do you think the suspension or springs has deteriorate a bit?

20C4S - I don't think so. The car is a tip and it usually drive off in second gear. For some reason, when I step on the gas a bit harder from a stop, it will have this "clunking" noise. It just clunk once or twice. It doesn't always happens. It won't happen when the car is warmed up.

Loose rear subframe. Very common problem. Take it in and they will know exactly what to do.

Guys, need your help!

I have taken the car to the dealer and the mechanic said that the subframe is tight and the engine & transmission mounts are ok as well. Any more idea as to what can cause a clunking noise when you accelerate from a stop?

Did you ask the dealer to take a look at it and/or drive it while you were there?

After 3 years, you should definately check up on your springs.

Thanks, guys. I'll ask them to have a look at the suspension. Anyway, the car doesn't make the clunking noise continuously. The clunking sound will only happen once when I accelerate. Therefore the bearings and transfer box problems are ruled out. Any other thoughts?

Anyone? Will bad spark plugs be the cause?
