Interior trim removal help needed

I have decided to add some more carbon trim to the interior of my TT. This after drooling over some of Kevin M.'s and Gary (FL) carbon interior trim project images.

I need help and detailed instructions for the following tasks:

1) Removal of instrument gauge trim surround, and
2) Removal of switch panel 'horseshoe' (the panel holding the PSM and other switches)

I am also doing the lower trim panel piece and dash trim strips (basically the factory small carbon package) but already have found good instructions on this and other sites.

I would especially appreciate workshop manual illustrations where relevant. Any other tips are welcomed.

Thanks a lot.

Remove the hazard switch and housing.. there is a hex screw behind there... then Remove the little round vent looking piece on the left side of the cluster.. there is another hex screw in there.. After those are removed just pull up on the
whole piece the leather and cluster will pop out... Remove the plugs behind attached to the cluster (I disconnected the battery first) then you can see the screw that hold the boomarang in place, the cluster comes right out along with the boomarang.. just put it all back together the same way and your done.... also be sure to put a towel on the steering column so you dont scratch anything while you pull out the cluster!!

Yes the Upper Center Console pops right out. start from the bottom and work your way around.. The hardest part is the damn cigarrette lighter.. Here is the pciture and directions which aren't that good but work... When your prying from the back keep pushing the lighter housing forward.

Jeff, some say a spatula will work, but I tried and it didn't maybe a hard plastic one would be better then the rubber one I used .. so I was actually able to just use a small flat head screwdriver... Where did your order your CF from?

Go the hardware store and get the thinnest putty knife they sell. It will slide right under the horseshoe and is stuff enought to try it off without damaging the dash. Warning as Kevin said - the lighter is a total PITA!

You can pull the horseshoe off by hand, start on the bottom on either side.

Carbon parts

Kevin:

I bought my parts from Brandywine Porsche in PA. I always receive very good service and competitive prices from Justin up there.
