Clunking sound from front brakes..
Guys,
I cant figure this out.
I replaced my front rotors and pads.. Stoptech 355mm Slotted rotors, and Hawk street pads.
anyway.. the brakes work great. i broke them in properly (2 rounds of ten 80-10mph runs)
heres the problem. when i am driving around, and the brakes arent applied, they make a clicking sound. it almost sounds as if the brake pad is shifting at a particular spot of the rotor.
we took the pads out, we put grease, we swapped the pads around.
the second i apply the brakes, the clicking sound dissapears.
what are your thoughts ?
my rotors are "floating". should i have the bolts tightened and essentially have a non floating rotor ?

Steve, Floating rotors will make that noise. If you do not like it then you should have used a street friendly rotor that has spring clips that put just enuff pressure to stop the noise but allow the rotor to float.
