What kind of times are you guys getting with your modded 996 TT Tiptronics?

 

I ran a 2.7s with my old tip. Tranny was stock, turbos were 16/16's.

 

I can't believe you took your trusty tip off your sig....

how much modding can the auto withstand? im searching for a 996tt but it seems only the manuals get modded. i would want approx 500 to 600 rwhp and wish i knew the auton could handle it

 

That's a big range. I bet it could handle 500 rwhp, but 600 at the wheels might be a stretch.

IIRC, it's the Mercedes 5 speed auto box, so Renntech and others can build it if need be.

 

didnt know that but the m/b auto is pretty well bulletproof to 500 hp and more with the e55 . they see over 600 ft/lbs torque which is what kills the trans when modding. my search is just beginning and still deciding what path i want to go. 996tt or cayman turbo'd auto is preferred but manual could be done.

 

My Tip let go with 16/16g turbos. So, the tip doesn't handle much past 500 for very long.

 

My best time of 0-62 miles, stock K16, Softronic tune with exhaust, DVs, headers, stock filter...

 

That is really moving! Just out of curiosity what is the fastest you have done in your manual?

When I was organizing my mods ('04 996 TT Cab Tip) with EVOMS they advised me the Tip was the same as the one in the SL65 except for being 4 wheel drive). That car has over 600 Ft lb's of Torque I believe. The indicated that the TIP could take up to 1,000 lbs which seems a bit high to me. We stopped at 550 lbs for my car. I did go for the reprogramming of the TCU to match the ECU tuning and other mods. Transmission does seem to shift better with this upgrade.

Wow! He had to have done some major tranny mods! I have heard to stay under 550 to be safe!
