New Sachs 2.5 installed / chattering, slight burnt smell after drive
My friend just had a Sachs 2.5 installed. I picked it up from the shop for him. He had the RMS, IMS, low temp therm and clutch all done.
The clutch is very grabby, and on starts is a little chattery. Does this go away with break in? I also noticed a little burning smell. I am not hard on clutches and am just wondering if this is normal while it breaks in. I did not have this on my OEM sachs done just a month ago. Any possibility the flywheel should have been done?
Please advise on 2.5. If the chatter will subside and about the small amount of burned clutch smell. Thanks!

Did you have any grabby engagement issues that smoothed out after break in? I just feel a bit of a shudder during engagement. I've read in some past forums it needs to "seat" and you should rev it up to 4,000 and slowly slip the clutch out to help this? Any advise to tell my friend? He likes all gears, except starting from a stop in 1st and reverse.

mine is also chattery
i installed a spec 2+ with a light weight flywheel about 1200 miles ago.
mine is still very grabby and shuttgers/chatters quite a bit.
I have a spring disk. but it's really not smoothing things out.
Im thinking of going back to teh Dual mass flywheel soon as this annoying problem makes driving less fun.

That is one of the problems that can happen when you do not replace a worn flywheel when adding a new disc. Not saying that's it, but it's a strong possibility, if the flywheel is older.

You must drive the car normal(low rpms) for the fisrt 200miles.Then everything will be fine!!
Don t push the car and the clutch will be ok

This clutch is between the two as far as feel..
Both have a higher engagement then stock...
I hope the installer check his flywheel out..
If you remove the clutch pedal booster spring, that will help a little with feel.Enough to make it more livable on the street..
Good Luck
