Extended Warranty question

I just purchased my friend's 2004 911 Turbo Cabrio with 22K miles. I was looking around at extended warranty coverage as I know these TT's are expensive to repair. I found through Direct Buy a warranty with zero deductible for 3 years/36K miles was about $3,100 (and transferrable). I only plan to drive the car maybe 5,000 miles per year and keep it for 2-3 years. Does anyone have any experience with these extended warranties, or more specifically Direct Buy? www.directbuywarranty.com

I spent about 2 hours reviewing posts on extended aftermarket warranties. Do a search and you'll see, at least on the 996tt and 997tt boards, that EasyCare and Fidelity are the most popular.

Make sure that you get an exclusionary policy. That ensures that you have the broadest coverage on your car, only things that are not covered are listed in the contract.

I purchased Fidelity Platinum warranty through my dealer a month before CPO warranty expired. Tomorrow I'll have the first opportunity to test it. If everything goes well, the alternator replacement will only cost me a $100 in deductible costs.

I'll post my experience once I get the car back.

There's a lot of threads on here about this.

I also have the Fidelity platinum warranty and they're great to work with. I've had $10k in repairs so far that have only cost me $500 out of pocket (plus $3500 for the original 4 year/48k warranty). I just gave the shop their info and they handled everything. I've never had to talk to them other than the first time I had a problem and had to call them to find out what shops I could use.
