Well I have had mine in for two days now and it works really well. Coming from the 997 SSK this is a nice upgrade I love the 2-3 and 4-5 throw as it is now one fluid flick into gear instead of the old up-across and up again move that seemed to take for ever.

Just a quick update:
Now that I have had a little more time with the shifter, the thing that I have noticed most is that it requires more precision to shift well than the old shifter did.
If I am a little slow to complete upshifts and the revs drop too much, it seems like the engagement of those gears are a little more vague. Get it right, however, and the shift lever just click into place. This is even more important during downshifting and it's more noticeable in the lower gears than the higher. Trying to engage a gear from a slow coast with the engine at idle (i.e. in traffic) requires the most precision.
It may be a sign of wear in my transmission and the old shifter was just covering up.
I will say that I still very happy with the shifter. My plan is to now drive it for a week or two on the mid-throw setting to see what differences there are.

I don't have the issues that the OP had, my tranny has 28k on it so I don't have any tranny wear issues, the shifter works well and was a breeze to install. The whole thing is a non event, 1 hr to install and no miss shifts so far.
The feel is very very solid its nice knowing there are no plastic bits to fall apart down there now.
I have it set on the middle setting which is a bit shorter throw than the 997 SS, to go to the shortest setting puts the shifter cable on the carpet and it drags a bit.
I also wasn't able to figure out how to have it on that setting and have both of the shifter rod retaining screws installed.

Thats what I am comparing it to

No, nothing new.
I still haven't tried the mid setting, I guess I've just gotten a little more used to it and haven't really had any issues. Like I said earlier, I've just had to be a little more assertive.
I've gotten suggestions to check out the condition of the shift cables themselves and to possible change tranny fluid.

I'm only using one of the retaining screws, I don't think it's necessary to use both.

Group buy would be cool. What are the advantages of the cup car cables and how difficult are they to install?
